Modern car keys are a long way from the simple metal cuts of older vehicles. Today’s keys contain transponder chips, remote locking systems, and encrypted data that ties them directly to the vehicle’s immobiliser and ECU. Cutting

We carry key blanks for a wide range of makes and models, cut using computerised machinery that ensures a precise, accurate result every time. Keys can be cut to code, to pattern, or directly from the vehicle’s door or ignition lock, depending on the situation.

Programming

A correctly cut key that isn’t programmed won’t start the car, and for vehicles with transponder or encrypted chip systems, the key must be coded directly to the vehicle’s ECU or immobiliser before it will work. We carry out this programming using the same dealer-level diagnostic tools we use across the rest of the workshop, covering the vast majority of makes and models on the road today.

Told only a dealer can do it?

It’s a common misconception, but main dealers do not have exclusive access to key cutting and programming for most vehicles. Cam Autos holds the equipment and software to handle the majority of key programming jobs independently, usually faster and at a lower cost than the dealer alternative.

Proof of ownership is required before any key cutting or programming work is carried out.
